Novare Staff Awarded Design Engineer 1 (DE1) Engineering Authority

Following the recent modification of engineering authority levels by the Chief Engineer of the DMOs Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Branch, three of QinetiQ Novare's eleven Design Engineers have been granted DE1 engineering authority. This engineering authority enables QinetiQ Novare to perform Design Approval for Significant design changes using GWEOs Engineering Management System (EMS). Importantly, our clients are now able to rapidly accept and incorporate design changes, thus ensuring the benefits are more quickly transferred to the front line.

Although QinetiQ Novare is already able to provide GWEO with approved designs using its own EMS and AEO like status, the appointment of DE1s using GWEOs EMS is another positive step for the company. In addition to other strict selection criteria, a DE1 is required to have a post-tertiary qualification in explosive ordnance or related disciplines, such as the MSc (EOE) or MSc (GW) from Cranfield University, or the MSc (Aerosystems) from Loughborough University. As Australias leading EO consultancy, QinetiQ Novare has more consultants with such qualifications than any other company in Australia.

Seen in the photograph are QinetiQ Novare's Through-Life Support Business Manager, Mike Rigby, and Chief Engineer, Dennis Nothdurft, receiving their DE1 certificates from GWEOs Chief Engineer, Wing Commander Chris Hersey. QinetiQ Novares Managing Director, Greg Wilcock, was also authorised as a DE1.

Well done to all three!
